Had a smoke free ascent of Mount Temples's East ridge on Aug 4th, 2026. Temperature was 4 degrees at 3:30 AM in Lake Louise. The rock climbing on the big and little steps was dry and pleasant. The traverse across from the Big step to the Black Towers had a small section of soft snow remaining that allowed for awkward travel. There was good flow of fresh water to be had in the black towers. Glacier travel on the summit ridge went from firm snow and ice to soft buckets steps on the upper corniced ridge.
